Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has officially joined the Accord Party after leaving the PDP. The announcement was made on Tuesday at the Government House Banquet Hall in Osogbo. National and state leaders of the Accord Party attended the historic event. Adeleke also revealed his intention to seek re-election in 2026 under the “Thumb-Up” platform.
The governor stated he joined the party on November 6 after weeks of consultations with stakeholders. He emphasized that this decision aims to continue delivering good governance and democratic dividends to Osun citizens. Adeleke noted that the Accord Party’s mission of welfarism aligns with his administration’s focus on workers’ and citizens’ welfare.
Welcoming party leaders to the Government House, Adeleke stressed unity and shared progress. “Our goal is to maintain inclusive leadership and prioritize the welfare of all citizens,” he said. He highlighted achievements in infrastructure, social services, and workers’ welfare. Adeleke added that Osun has never experienced governance and service delivery at this level before.
He called on residents from all localities to support the Accord Party as a vehicle for continuity. Adeleke described the new platform as essential for sustaining good governance in the state. In a December 2 Instagram post, he confirmed resigning from the PDP due to ongoing national leadership crises. He submitted his resignation on November 4 in Ede North Local Government and thanked the PDP for past opportunities.
Adeleke concluded by urging all stakeholders to unite for victory under the Accord Party platform. His move signals a strategic step toward winning the 2026 Osun gubernatorial election.
