Faith Osamuyi, rising Nigerian hurdler, has taken another bold step in her athletic journey as she officially signed with Alabama University Track and Field ahead of the 2025/26 NCAA season. The reigning National Sports Festival champion in the women’s 100m hurdles will now continue her development in the United States, joining fellow Nigerians Precious Nzeakor and Samuel Ogazi on the Crimson Tide roster.
At just 17 years old, Osamuyi has already made a name for herself as one of Nigeria’s most promising young hurdlers. Her 2025 season has been nothing short of spectacular, with the teenager lowering her personal best three times in the space of a few months.
She first caught the spotlight at the National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, where she stormed to victory in the 100m hurdles, finishing ahead of Grace Ayemola and the rest of the field. That breakthrough moment set the stage for more impressive performances.
Soon after, Osamuyi trimmed her personal record to 13.35s at the prestigious Znamensky Brothers Memorial Meet in Moscow, Russia, showcasing her ability to compete on international soil. Her consistency continued at the Nigeria National Trials in Lagos, where she clocked just one millisecond off her best to secure a third-place finish behind global superstar Tobi Amusan and emerging talent Adaobi Tabugbo.
Although she narrowly missed the podium at the African Games in Ghana last year, her performances proved she has the potential to thrive among the continent’s best athletes.
Now, with her move to Alabama University, Osamuyi is set to refine her craft under world-class facilities and coaching, while also gaining exposure to NCAA competition. Her rapid rise suggests she is well on course to become one of Nigeria’s next big track stars on the global stage.
