Lagos-based TikTok star and livestreamer Hamzat Habeeb, popularly known as Peller, has been hospitalised after intentionally crashing his car during a live broadcast on the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the incident occurred on Sunday during a viral TikTok livestream titled “RIP Peller.” The 20-year-old influencer was alone in his newly purchased Mercedes-Benz at the time of the broadcast.
During the livestream, Peller appeared visibly distressed while speaking emotionally on a phone call, reportedly with his girlfriend, Jarvis, amid speculations of a breakup. Viewers observed erratic behaviour as he made several alarming statements.
“I will use this car and have an accident right now,” he said during the broadcast, before adding, “I’m scared. I’m scared.”
In another moment that shocked viewers, Peller reportedly stated, “If you leave me, people will mock me… Thank you, I’m going to kill myself.”
Moments later, the livestream showed him driving off before crashing the vehicle into a stone barrier. The impact caused significant damage to the car.
A separate video circulating online captured bystanders rushing to the scene to assist Peller before he was conveyed to a nearby hospital. As of the time this report was filed, details regarding the extent of his injuries had yet to be confirmed.
