The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of Ayomikun Oluwanisola, the only son of veteran Nollywood actress Peju Ogunmola.
The tragic news broke on Tuesday, prompting an outpouring of grief and tributes from colleagues, fans, and industry stakeholders.
Actress Biola Adebayo described the loss as heartbreaking, writing on Instagram:
“This is a big loss. This is devastating and tragic. May God Almighty comfort Mummy Peju Ogunmola who just lost her only child.”
Actor Odunlade Adekola also expressed his condolences, stating:
“This is a big loss. God will console you ma and the whole family.”
Others who joined in mourning included Kunle Afod, who admitted his heart had been heavy since hearing the news, and Femi Adebayo, who described the tragedy as “a line too heavy for the stage.”
Actor Ibrahim Yekini (Itele D Icon) prayed for divine strength for the bereaved mother, while Adedimeji Lateef and Muyiwa Ademola both shared emotional tributes, asking God to grant the family comfort during this difficult time.
Ogunmola, who is married to veteran actor Sunday Omobolanle (Papi Luwe/Aluwe), has been a pillar in the Yoruba film industry for decades. Her son’s death comes just weeks before what would have been his birthday on October 12.
