UEFA has provisionally suspended Benfica midfielder Gianluca Prestianni over alleged racist abuse directed at Vinícius Júnior during a Champions League clash against Real Madrid CF.
The incident occurred during the February 17 first leg in Lisbon after Vinícius scored. The Brazilian accused Prestianni of using a racist slur, prompting a temporary stoppage under UEFA’s anti-racism protocol.
Prestianni has denied making a racist remark. UEFA’s investigation is ongoing, and further sanctions could follow.
