President Bola Tinubu has expressed strong solidarity with the United Arab Emirates following recent attacks targeting civilian and economic infrastructure. In a statement shared on his official X platform, the Nigerian leader reaffirmed the country’s commitment to global peace, while firmly condemning acts that endanger innocent lives and critical national assets.
Furthermore, Tinubu emphasized Nigeria’s continued support for his UAE counterpart, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He acknowledged the proactive steps taken by the Gulf nation to protect its citizens and secure vital infrastructure amid escalating tensions. According to him, Nigeria remains aligned with its international partners in promoting stability and peace across regions.
Meanwhile, the situation in the Middle East continues to deteriorate. The crisis intensified after the United States, alongside Israeli forces, launched coordinated strikes on Iran under a military campaign reportedly approved by Donald Trump. In response, Iran initiated retaliatory missile and drone attacks across the region, including direct strikes on the UAE.
Although advanced defense systems such as THAAD and Patriot batteries have intercepted many threats, some attacks still resulted in casualties and infrastructure damage in cities like Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Consequently, diplomatic efforts have struggled to gain traction, with initial peace talks in Islamabad ending without resolution. However, further negotiations remain under consideration.
