President Bola Tinubu has rewarded Nigeria’s Super Falcons with ₦150 million, three-bedroom apartments, and national honours following their stunning victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The President hosted the team at the State House in Abuja just days after they edged out hosts Morocco 3-2 in a dramatic final. The victory secured Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON title, reinforcing their dominance in African women’s football.
Cash & Housing Rewards
In addition to national awards, each player received a three-bedroom apartment and a cash prize of ₦150 million ($100,000). Members of the technical team were awarded ₦75 million ($50,000) each.
The celebration sparked jubilation among the players, who danced and chanted, “Na our papa be this o!”
Tinubu on the Final: “I Couldn’t Watch”
In a lighter moment, President Tinubu admitted he didn’t watch the final live due to nerves.
“I said I didn’t want to develop high blood pressure,” he joked.
Nigeria’s victory in Rabat came after a thrilling comeback, with goals from Uchenna Kanu, Asisat Oshoala, and Jennifer Echegini overturning a two-goal deficit.
