President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian artistes for their impressive performance at the 9th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA). He described their achievements as proof of Nigeria’s growing influence in African and global music.
According to Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Tinubu said the artistes’ success reflects “the depth of talent, creativity, and hard work that define Nigeria’s music industry.” He added that their wins made the nation proud.
“I warmly congratulate our outstanding artistes for their remarkable achievements on this continental stage. You have projected our culture, amplified youth voices, and strengthened Nigeria’s creative identity,” Tinubu said.
Nigerian artistes dominated the awards held in Lagos from January 7–11, 2026. Rema won Artiste of the Year, Best Male Artiste in Western Africa, and Best African RnB and Soul. Burna Boy took Album of the Year, while Shallipopi won Song of the Year and Best African Collaboration alongside Burna Boy.
Other winners included Phyno, Qing Madi, Yemi Alade, and Chella. Kenny Ogungbe and Dayo Adeneye received the AFRIMA Legendary Award.
