Colleagues of Lagos teacher Peter Shodipe have appealed for a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding his arrest after a school drama presentation allegedly caused panic among students.
The drama, organised as part of a National Awareness Day programme on insecurity, was reportedly mistaken for a real bandit attack, prompting frightened students to flee and security agencies to intervene.
Teachers insist the exercise was an approved educational activity intended to raise awareness about insecurity. They have called on authorities to ensure a fair investigation and avoid criminalising what they describe as an unfortunate misunderstanding.
