President Bola Tinubu has congratulated former President Goodluck Jonathan on receiving the 2025 Sunhak Peace Founders’ Award.
In a statement from his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised Jonathan’s dedication to peace and democracy, noting that his efforts have earned him global recognition.
He highlighted Jonathan’s peaceful transition of power in 2015, describing it as a milestone that strengthened Nigeria’s democratic values. Tinubu also commended the Sunhak Peace Prize Committee for honoring individuals committed to making a positive global impact.
Established in 2015, the Sunhak Peace Prize is awarded biennially to individuals or organizations making notable contributions in:
Sustainable human development
Conflict resolution
Environmental conservation
Jonathan has been selected for the 2025 Founders’ Award, which will be presented in Seoul, South Korea, in recognition of his leadership and peacebuilding initiatives.
