Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has promised to reward National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who demonstrate exceptional commitment and make meaningful contributions during their service year.
The governor gave the assurance on Tuesday at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Batch C Stream I orientation course at the NYSC temporary camp in Iyana-Ipaja.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, Sanwo-Olu urged corps members to embrace discipline, diligence and excellence in their assignments.
He also encouraged them to apply the practical skills acquired through the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme to establish businesses, pursue financial independence and create employment opportunities.
The governor urged the corps members to contribute to key sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, environmental sanitation and social services.
Earlier, Lagos NYSC Coordinator Christiana Salmwang commended the state government for supporting the renovation of the Iyana-Ipaja orientation camp and the development of a permanent camp at Agbowa, Ikorodu.
Salmwang urged corps members to prioritise safety, patriotism and national unity while respecting the traditions and customs of their host communities. She also warned against unauthorised journeys and night travel.
The ceremony featured the presentation of certificates of recognition to some corps members and camp officials for outstanding performance during the three-week orientation programme.
