The Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences (OSPOHAS) has reinforced its commitment to healthy living by organising the 2026 Rector’s Fitness and Wellness Walk to mark World Physical Activity Day. The event, held on Tuesday in the Ilese-Ijebu axis, attracted enthusiastic participation from staff, students, and members of the host community.
The initiative actively promoted regular exercise while raising awareness about the importance of physical activity in preventing lifestyle-related diseases. Moreover, it highlighted the role of consistent movement in improving overall well-being. The fitness walk, led by Rector Dr. Rasak Akinbo, commenced at the institution’s administrative block and moved through key parts of the community to the Ilese Roundabout before returning to campus.
Throughout the exercise, participants maintained high energy levels, reflecting a shared commitment to healthier lifestyles. Speaking at the event, Akinbo stressed that as a health-focused institution, OSPOHAS must lead by example in advancing preventive healthcare. He further described regular exercise as an essential pillar of healthy living and a critical habit for long-term wellness.
In addition, Registrar Mrs. Modupe Ajala encouraged participants to adopt daily exercise routines beyond organised events. She emphasised that consistent physical activity remains crucial in reducing the risk of non-communicable diseases.
The programme also featured light workout sessions and health awareness campaigns aligned with global advocacy for active living. Participants praised the initiative and expressed optimism that it would become a sustained programme supporting Ogun State’s broader health agenda.
