A fire has destroyed the radio studio of Ajayi Crowther University in Oyo State. The incident led to the loss of property and equipment worth millions of naira.
Cause of the Fire
The fire started on Monday inside the campus. Reports say it was caused by an electrical surge from the air-conditioning system. The flames spread quickly before help arrived.
Fire Service Response
Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident. He said firefighters led by PFS 11 Makinde rushed to the scene.
“The studio was already in flames and smoke. Our team stopped the fire from spreading to nearby buildings. No lives were lost, and we saved properties worth millions,” he explained.
Akinwande advised the public to keep fire extinguishers and use them to stop small fires before they grow.

This is not the first fire outbreak in Oyo State in recent weeks:
- August 16, 2025 – Fire gutted Fresh FM Nigeria’s head office at Challenge, Ibadan.
- July 9, 2025 – Fire destroyed five shops in Ibadan, causing huge losses.
- Earlier in August 2025 – Fresh 105.9 FM Ibadan also suffered a fire outbreak.

These repeated incidents raise fresh concerns about fire safety in Oyo State. Experts are urging schools, businesses, and media houses to maintain their electrical systems and train staff on fire response.
