Suspect Flees After Checking Into Hotel with Victim
The Bayelsa State Police Command is actively pursuing a suspected internet fraudster—commonly known as a Yahoo boy—after a young woman was found dead in a hotel room in Igbogene, Yenagoa.
Sources confirm that the victim checked into the hotel on Saturday, June 1, 2025, with the suspect. Shortly after they entered the room, the man left the hotel alone, leaving the woman behind.
Hotel Manager Discovers Body, Alerts Police
When staff noticed the man had left without the woman, the hotel manager went to check the room and found the woman unresponsive. He immediately reported the case to the Igbogene Divisional Police Headquarters.
Police Launch Investigation, Order Autopsy
The Bayelsa State Police Command confirmed the incident and launched a full investigation. Police spokesperson Musa Muhammad said officers are working to identify and arrest the fleeing suspect.
“We received the report on Saturday. We haven’t made any arrests yet, but we’re following strong leads. An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death,” Muhammad stated.
Residents Demand Justice, Raise Safety Concerns
The incident has alarmed Yenagoa residents, who are calling for stronger security protocols in local hotels. Many also demand increased action against rising internet fraud and related violent crimes in Bayelsa State.
Police Urge Public to Share Information
The police have asked anyone with relevant information about the suspect’s identity or whereabouts to come forward. The command has pledged to bring the perpetrator to justice and ensure community safety.
