Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has pledged ₦20 million in support of victims affected by devastating floods in Mokwa LGA, Niger State.
During his visit on June 2, Obi met with local officials and expressed condolences over the disaster, which has claimed over 153 lives, left 1,000 missing, and displaced more than 3,000 residents.
“We must come together as a family to care, comfort, and support,” Obi said, calling on the Federal Government and emergency agencies to step up relief efforts.
Obi was received by Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba and discussed the urgent needs of the affected communities. He emphasized that this ₦20 million is an initial donation, with more support to follow.
“I stand with the people of Niger State during this difficult time,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to ongoing support.
