Governor Ademola Adeleke has appealed for peace and unity in Osun State following his re-election, as the All Progressives Congress considers its legal options over Saturday’s governorship election.
Adeleke was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission after polling **511,067 votes** to defeat APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who scored **444,815 votes**. Adeleke won 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured 11.
In his victory remarks, Adeleke extended an olive branch to his opponents, declaring that there was “no victor, no vanquished.” He promised to build on his achievements, correct his shortcomings and accelerate development under his renewed five-point agenda.
President Bola Tinubu congratulated Adeleke and urged him to unite Osun residents regardless of their political affiliations.
Meanwhile, the Osun APC said it was reviewing results from the 332 wards before deciding whether to challenge the election through the courts.
The African Democratic Congress also congratulated Adeleke but requested an explanation from INEC over an alleged interruption in the uploading of results to the IReV portal.
ADC candidate Najeem Salaam, who came third with 17,180 votes, also congratulated Adeleke, saying democracy had prevailed.
