Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been discharged from the hospital following successful forearm surgery. The 27-year-old underwent a three-hour operation at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital in Istanbul last Tuesday. Club doctor Op. Dr. Yener İnce led the surgical team, confirming a fractured right forearm.
Osimhen sustained the injury during a UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool at Anfield. He collided mid-air with defender Ibrahima Konaté but played until halftime before substitution. Initially, doctors planned to discharge him the day after surgery for monitoring at home.
However, Osimhen requested an extended stay to ensure careful recovery and optimal rehabilitation. Security was tightened outside his room, limiting access even for close family members. Turkish journalist Haluk Yürekli reported Osimhen’s desire to remain, aiming for faster match readiness. Galatasaray officials praised his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to returning stronger.
Early recovery reports now suggest four to six weeks, shorter than the initial six-to-eight. Osimhen may even be fit in time for the Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26. The club will cautiously manage his return, protecting him from relapse and reinjury. Before the injury, Osimhen scored 19 goals and seven assists in 29 appearances this season. Konaté has since apologized for the collision, showing sportsmanship and concern for the striker.
