Factions of the Peoples Democratic Party, African Democratic Congress, Labour Party, and Accord Party have distanced themselves from the Ibadan opposition summit, saying it does not reflect their official positions.
The parties denied involvement in the meeting and rejected its resolution to present a unified presidential candidate against President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Although prominent figures such as Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi attended the gathering, internal divisions and leadership disputes continue to hinder coalition efforts. Several factions have instead reaffirmed plans to field independent candidates, underscoring the fragmented nature of Nigeria’s opposition politics.
