An APC chieftain and National Convener of the Forum of APC Female Aspirants 2027 (FAFAN), Princess Nikky Onyeri, has urged Nigerians to reject ethnic and religious politics ahead of the Feb. 21 AMAC chairmanship election in Abuja.
Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, Onyeri criticised a message allegedly circulated by a group known as the Igbo Elders Consultative Forum. The message reportedly urged Ndi Igbo in Abuja to support the SDP candidate for the AMAC chairmanship.
Onyeri described the move as undemocratic and misleading. She said no group has the mandate to speak for all Igbo people in Abuja or endorse a candidate on their behalf.
She stressed that elections must remain free, fair and transparent to preserve credibility. According to her, when political pluralism is removed, authoritarianism emerges and weakens public trust in governance.
