Nigerian comedian Okey Bakassi has announced a ₦5 million reward for information leading to the recovery of stolen phones and the arrest of a suspected thief in Ikoyi.
Bakassi revealed that the incident occurred during a weekly football session on April 15, 2026, when an unknown individual joined the game and was allowed to participate. The suspect reportedly pretended to be injured, left the pitch, and allegedly stole about eight phones belonging to players.
According to him, the stolen devices belong to businessmen, raising concerns about potential disruption to their daily activities. He confirmed that the matter has been reported to the police and investigations are ongoing.
The comedian issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the suspect to return the phones, warning that efforts to track him were already underway.
Bakassi also urged the public to assist, offering a ₦5 million reward for credible information, while advising buyers to verify the source of second-hand phones to avoid purchasing stolen items.
