Peter Obi has criticised the administration of Bola Tinubu, arguing that despite reported revenue growth from ₦16.8 trillion (2022) to ₦35 trillion (2025), Nigerians are still facing worsening economic conditions.
He claimed Nigeria’s debt has risen to about ₦200 trillion, describing the borrowing trend as excessive and unsustainable. Obi also alleged rising poverty, unemployment, and declining GDP per capita, asking: “Where did all the money go?”
The Presidency rejected the claims, saying the figures were misleading, noting that part of the debt predated the current administration and that exchange rate changes affect external debt valuation.
