A serving member of the National Youth Service Corps, Joy Alkali, has empowered 1,102 students and women in Taraba State through vocational skills training, literacy programmes and Computer-Based Test (CBT) coaching under her Community Development Service project.
Implemented through the Better Tomorrow Initiative, the project also saw 30 students of Government Day Secondary School, Howai, receive school uniforms to support access to education. Alkali said the initiative was designed to promote self-reliance, empower women and improve community development. NYSC officials commended the project as a model of impactful community service, while the school’s management praised the corps member for renovating classroom chalkboards, introducing reading support and improving learning opportunities for students.
