The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Nigerian workers. Through consistent compensation payments and expanded social protection programmes. The Fund revealed that it has disbursed more than N1bn to workers affected by workplace injuries, diseases, and fatalities. Demonstrating its ongoing role in supporting labour welfare across the country.

He explained that the Fund views benefits compensation as a promise to ensure that no worker is abandoned when unexpected challenges arise. Through the Employees’ Compensation Scheme, the NSITF continues to offer critical financial relief to injured employees and families of deceased workers.
Among the significant claims settled, the family of a Depthwize Limited employee received N42.5m, along with a monthly benefit of N2m until the youngest child turns 21. Dependents of a Nigerian Breweries worker have also received N76.07m so far, with payments continuing until 2034. The Fund further paid N93.89m to the family of a deceased Mobil Producing Nigeria staff members. While beneficiaries from Indigo Drilling received a cumulative N320.4m for cases involving fatalities and disabilities.
Additional payouts included N20.77m for Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria. N15.67m for Zenith Bank, N20.27m for Medplus, and N11.17m for Unity Bank employees. A National Assembly employee was compensated with N25m for an occupational disease. Also 39 Nigeria Customs Service workers collectively received N484.2m. A Nestlé Nigeria employee involved in a road accident was also paid N31.1m with ongoing medical support.
Faleye emphasized that safeguarding workers requires deliberate action and shared responsibility among the government, employers, and employees. He urged all stakeholders to prioritize compliance and compassion. Noting that a nation prospers when its workers feel secure.
