Veteran Nollywood actor Sunday Afolabi has made a return to the film industry after a period away from the spotlight, during which he reportedly worked as a commercial driver in Lagos.
The actor, known for his role in the classic Yoruba film Owo Blow, was recently spotted on a movie set, confirming his comeback. Fellow actor Adeniyi Johnson shared the update on social media, announcing that Afolabi is currently working on a new production titled ILEKE.
His return follows a viral video that showed him working around a Lagos minibus, sparking widespread concern among fans about his well-being.
In earlier remarks, Afolabi had spoken about personal struggles, including financial challenges and the loss of his wife, which affected his career. He explained that commercial driving was a means of survival while waiting for acting opportunities.
Once a prominent figure in Yoruba cinema, Afolabi featured in several films before his presence declined as the industry evolved.
His reappearance on set has been welcomed by fans and colleagues, many of whom see his return as a positive step and a reminder of his contributions to Nollywood.
