Nigeria’s Acting Ambassador to South Africa, Temitope Ajayi, has reassured citizens that Nigerians are not under siege despite recent xenophobic tensions.
Speaking on Channels Television Morning Brief, Ajayi described the incidents as isolated rather than widespread attacks, noting that both the Nigerian and South African governments are actively working together to maintain calm.
He said areas such as Pretoria and Johannesburg remain stable, while earlier unrest in Durban has been contained by security agencies. Ajayi also cautioned Nigerians to remain vigilant, comply with local laws, and avoid panic, stressing that individuals involved in isolated incidents do not represent the broader South African population.
