The Project Coordinator of the Nigeria International Agriculture Expo (NIAEXPO 2025), Mr. Abiodun Olaniyi, says the annual fair is strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural value chain by promoting innovations and partnerships.
Speaking at the seventh edition in Abuja, Olaniyi said the event attracted participants from Indonesia, China, India, the U.S., Canada, and several Nigerian states. He noted that SMEs showcased organic farming, agroecology models, and locally assembled electric vehicles for agro-logistics, describing them as key to addressing challenges in the sector.
Olaniyi added that this year’s expo highlighted inclusivity by involving persons with disabilities and expressed optimism that the 2026 edition would have greater impact.
Other stakeholders also unveiled new solutions. Autodex Nigeria Ltd. showcased a locally assembled electric tricycle to cut transport costs for farmers, while Contec Global Agro Ltd. introduced 23 bio-products to fight crop diseases and reduce chemical use.
The Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Maiha, reaffirmed government’s commitment to repositioning the sector, citing the Nigeria Livestock Growth Acceleration Strategy, which targets growth from $32bn in 2025 to $74bn by 2035.
Meanwhile, the National Cereal Research Institute announced new rice varieties to boost productivity, urging wider adoption to bridge demand gaps.
