Romanian Marian Marinica has resigned as Zimbabwe head coach due to personal reasons, ZIFA announced Monday. He was appointed last November on a one-year contract. He previously coached Malawi and Liberia. Marinica led Zimbabwe to 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
However, the Warriors exited after the group stage following draws and defeats. They drew with Angola and lost to Egypt and South Africa. Meanwhile, former captain Kaitano Tembo now serves as caretaker coach. He will lead the team at the upcoming Unity Cup tournament. The tournament runs May 26–30 in London. Zimbabwe will compete alongside India, Jamaica, and Nigeria.
