Japaul Gold & Ventures Plc has announced progress toward commercial gold production in Nigeria. The company confirmed delivery of its pilot gold processing plant. It has also begun test runs at the Libeli Mine site. Consequently, the firm transitions into active mining and gold processing. Commercial production is scheduled to commence in May 2026.
The milestone follows over four years of intensive geological exploration. During this period, the company secured statutory mining titles and approvals. It also engaged regulators to ensure full compliance. Furthermore, the firm strengthened its operational readiness strategy.
Japaul Gold holds four mining leases across Taraba, Niger, and Osun states. The newly installed pilot plant processes hard-rock and alluvial deposits. At full capacity, it can produce between 18,000 and 21,000 grams monthly. Therefore, the facility establishes a steady production foundation.
Additionally, the company plans to scale operations significantly. An industrial-scale processing plant will arrive in the fourth quarter of 2026. This larger facility will process about 210,000 grams monthly. As a result, output will increase substantially.
Technical operations are led by Canadian Managing Director, Mr David Dawson. He brings over 30 years of global mining experience. A team of expatriates and specialists supports field activities. Their expertise strengthens operational efficiency and safety standards.
Meanwhile, governance reforms reinforce corporate stability. The Board operates under Chairman Mr Segun Oloketuyi. Executive leadership includes Acting Group Managing Director Henry Alakhume and CFO Adegboyega Adebukunola. Together, management aims to position Japaul as a leading gold producer.
