The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced plans to accredit 1,039 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is’haq Oloyede, disclosed this during an accreditation tour in Ilorin, noting that 52 teams have been deployed to re-accredit centres and disqualify those that fail to meet standards. He stressed that previous approval does not guarantee continued eligibility.
Oloyede revealed that some centres previously involved in malpractice attempted to return, but JAMB has strengthened collaboration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to block blacklisted operators using directors’ details and NINs. Implicated staff, proctors, and computers have also been permanently barred.
He added that security agencies are investigating detected breaches. Accreditation requirements include proper network systems, backup power, CCTV installation, and adequate facilities.
University of Ilorin Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, warned candidates that examination malpractice would attract severe consequences.
