Iran has carried out a public execution in Fars Province after a man was convicted of murdering four family members during a robbery.
According to Mizan, the judiciary’s news portal, the man and his wife killed a mother and her three children in Beyram in October 2024. Both were sentenced to death in February 2025, with the Supreme Court later upholding the verdict.
The man was hanged in public at dawn on Tuesday, while his wife’s execution will take place in prison at a later date.
Iran, which Amnesty International ranks second only to China for executions, often enforces the death penalty for crimes such as murder and rape. Public hangings remain a common method.
