Nollywood actress and politician Funke Adesiyan has withdrawn her House of Representatives ambition. She planned to represent Ibadan South-East and North-East Federal Constituency in Oyo State. However, she announced her withdrawal through a Facebook letter on Saturday. She addressed the letter to the APC chairman in Ibadan South-East Local Government.
Furthermore, she dated the letter April 24, 2026.Adesiyan explained that careful reflection informed her decision. She also cited extensive consultations with key political stakeholders. Therefore, she described the move as deliberate and personally guided.
According to her, the broader political landscape influenced her final position. She emphasized her commitment to credibility and purposeful service. Moreover, she expressed deep appreciation to her supporters and allies. She acknowledged their encouragement throughout her political journey. In addition, she thanked stakeholders within and beyond the constituency. She noted that their trust strengthened her resolve during the process.
Meanwhile, Adesiyan stated that stepping down offers renewed clarity and direction. She believes this decision allows her to refocus on impactful contributions. Consequently, she plans to support development through alternative strategic avenues. She stressed her desire to continue serving the people meaningfully. Finally, she reaffirmed her commitment to the growth of Oyo State. She also pledged continued dedication to Nigeria’s progress and development.
