The European Union’s top privacy regulator has launched an investigation into X over concerns that its AI chatbot, Grok, has generated sexualised and explicit content.
The probe follows reports, including coverage by the Financial Times, that Grok produced inappropriate imagery and descriptions, raising concerns about privacy, digital safety and compliance with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Regulators are examining how personal data may be processed by Grok and whether X’s AI safeguards meet EU standards. The investigation could set a major precedent for AI content moderation and accountability within Europe.
