The Ekiti Council of Elders has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji on securing a second term in office after emerging victorious in the June 20 governorship election. The council praised the governor’s first-term performance, expressing confidence that his renewed mandate would further accelerate the development of Ekiti State.
Speaking in Ado Ekiti on Monday, the council’s Secretary, Elder Niyi Ajibulu, disclosed that the elders conveyed their goodwill through a congratulatory letter dated June 25. The letter, jointly signed by the council’s President, Prof. Joseph Oluwasanmi, and Ajibulu, highlighted several achievements recorded during Oyebanji’s first four years in office.
According to the council, the administration made significant progress in road infrastructure, improving transportation across both urban and rural communities. The elders also commended the governor’s commitment to youth empowerment, particularly through agricultural initiatives, as well as programmes designed to support women in small-scale businesses.
Furthermore, the council acknowledged the government’s efforts to improve the welfare of civil servants and retirees while strengthening healthcare delivery across the state. It noted that many elderly residents had directly benefited from these initiatives, making the administration’s impact visible across different segments of society.
In addition, the elders praised Governor Oyebanji’s inclusive leadership style, stating that he consistently values their advice and contributions. They also credited his political maturity and strategic leadership for fostering a peaceful governorship election and maintaining calm across Ekiti State.
The council concluded by offering prayers for the governor’s continued good health, wisdom, and success as he begins his second term, expressing optimism that he would build on the achievements of his first administration.
