Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has threatened legal action against Zuffa Boxing boss Dana White over claims surrounding the proposed Anthony Joshua versus Tyson Fury superfight.
Hearn accused White of falsely presenting himself as having the authority to organise the highly anticipated bout and alleged that he was using Joshua to negotiate a venue deal despite having no such rights.
The dispute is the latest escalation in a long-running public feud between the two promoters, whose rivalry has intensified since White entered the boxing business.
Hearn said both Joshua and Fury have signed agreements to fight but revealed that Fury’s camp is seeking changes to the existing contract. He added that discussions are ongoing over the possibility of staging the bout in the United States.
A major point of contention is the proposed venue. Netflix, which is expected to broadcast the fight, has reportedly favoured New York, while Joshua and Hearn have continued to push for the contest to take place in the United Kingdom.
White has dismissed Hearn’s accusations, openly criticising the Matchroom boss and questioning his credibility.
The Joshua-Fury fight has generated huge interest among boxing fans, but no confirmed date or venue has yet been announced. Hearn’s latest comments suggest negotiations remain active as both camps work towards reaching a final agreement.
