David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has revealed how the tragic death of his three-year-old son, Ifeanyi, in 2022 became a turning point in both his personal life and music career.
In October 2022, Ifeanyi tragically drowned in a swimming pool at Davido’s Banana Island residence in Lagos State. Speaking in a heartfelt interview with ABC News’ Rocsi Diaz, which began trending on Wednesday, the Unavailable hitmaker reflected on the painful loss and the journey that followed.
Davido expressed pride in how he and his wife, Chioma, navigated the devastating period, drawing strength from each other and finding the courage to move forward. He explained that the heartbreaking incident reshaped his perspective on life and shifted his priorities.
“Stepping away after losing my son and looking back at my career gave me clarity and a fresh focus on how I wanted to move forward,” Davido shared. “It changed my life completely.”
The award-winning singer also recalled how strangers often approached him in airports and public spaces, expressing how his resilience inspired them. According to Davido, those encounters reinforced the impact of his story on others.
He continued, “I was telling my wife the other day, I’m proud of us. Now we have twins running around, shouting everywhere. For us to go through that kind of pain and bounce back in such a big way is incredible.”
Davido and Chioma recently sealed their love in a lavish Miami wedding, marking another joyful milestone after a period of immense grief.
