The Chinese language is gaining global recognition as a key tool for communication and cooperation, with its influence continuing to expand across nations.
Speaking at the 2026 International Chinese Language Day in Abuja, Yang, Director of the China Cultural Centre in Nigeria, said Chinese language global growth now spans over 190 countries, with more than 200 million learners worldwide.
He explained that learning Chinese provides Nigerians with opportunities to better understand China and engage in bilateral cooperation across trade, technology, and education.
The event also marked 55 years of diplomatic relations between Nigeria and China. Officials highlighted the importance of language in strengthening cultural exchange and international collaboration.
The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) also emphasised the role of communication in deepening ties between both countries.
