A Nigerian businesswoman, Titilayo Ibrahim, has narrated how she narrowly avoided jail after being wrongly linked to a kidnapping case involving a ₦50 million ransom.
She told BBC Yoruba that she was arrested after a supposed customer contacted her using a phone number allegedly tied to the crime.
Despite proof that she bought the SIM card after the incident, she said she was harassed and nearly imprisoned before being cleared.
The incident has sparked concerns over the risks of pre-registered SIM cards in Nigeria.
