Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has officially joined the Accord Party after leaving the PDP. He announced his move on Tuesday at the Government House Banquet Hall, alongside party leaders.
According to his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke intends to seek re-election on the “Thumb-Up” platform. The governor revealed he joined the party more than a month ago, precisely on November 6.
He emphasized that weeks of consultation with stakeholders guided this important decision. Adeleke explained the Accord Party’s mission aligns with his administration’s welfare-focused policies.
“Stakeholders and citizens understand why we took this step,” he said, stressing unity and progress. He welcomed party leaders into the Government House, highlighting shared goals for Osun State.
The governor pledged to sustain good governance and ensure inclusive leadership across the state. He praised the party’s philosophy, emphasizing people’s welfare as central to public service.
Adeleke highlighted his administration’s achievements, from infrastructure development to improved social services. He called on all regions of Osun, Osun West, East, and Central to support the new platform.
“From Igbomina to Ifeland, our collective goal is continued progress,” Adeleke said. He expressed confidence that voters will back continuity and good governance in 2026.
Adeleke formally resigned from the PDP on December 1, citing national leadership turmoil. He submitted his resignation earlier on November 4 in Sagba Abogunde, Ede North Local Government.
The governor thanked the PDP for opportunities during his tenure as Senator and Governor. With his Accord Party membership now official, Adeleke is set for a strong 2026 re-election campaign.
