Preparations for the “Rising Lion in Elephant Shadow Boxing Championship – Enyimba 2025” are intensifying. Boxers across South-Eastern Nigeria are training hard to defend and claim titles. The championship, now set for Tuesday, December 16, 2025, promises thrilling bouts in Aba, Abia State’s commercial hub.
Featherweight champion Chibuike Okoronkwo, widely celebrated as the Pride of Amangwu Arochukwu, revealed he is leaving no stone unturned. He praised IKEUJ Boxing Promotions, the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control, and the Abia State Government for organizing the historic event. Okoronkwo personally thanked Governor Alex Otti for his sports-friendly support, promising to deliver an outstanding performance.
The championship venue has shifted to Aba Sports Club 1926 for a smoother, more organized experience. Promoter and ex-international boxer Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo explained the move ensures a hitch-free outing. He confirmed that all participants are preparing rigorously, aiming for victory in their respective categories.
Match lineups include Okoronkwo facing Nwambeke Ndubisi in featherweight, Israel Ogbodo (Izzy Money) versus Udeh Chibuike in super featherweight, Chinaza Okoronkwo battling Ede Peter in lightweight, and Chukwu Chinonso clashing with Idris Abdulkarim in heavyweight.
The event, sanctioned by the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control and co-sponsored by the Abia State Government, highlights the revival of boxing in the state.
