Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, denies being a paedophile. He insists he was lured with food and money before the incident leading to imprisonment. Baba Ijesha spoke in a Monday interview with veteran broadcaster Yinka Ayefele on Fresh FM. The interview followed actress Biola Adebayo’s viral interview about the controversial case.
He responded to claims of confessing sexual assault on a minor in a viral video. “They said I used a car key to deflower the minor,” he explained. However, he refused to provide further details, promising his version in a future movie. Ayefele questioned if being lured by food suggested gluttony, to which Baba Ijesha replied affirmatively. He maintained he does not disrespect women and acted under a setup, not malice.
“I am not a paedophile or a rapist. Destiny punished me,” he asserted. In his song “Eni Waye Daran,” he detailed being invited under the guise of a movie role. He alleged host Damilola Adekoya, aka Princess, prepared his favourite meal to lure him. Upon arrival, he met people he believed were film crew members and rehearsed scenes. Baba Ijesha claimed others later accused him of misconduct in a pre-planned setup.
He expressed disappointment in colleagues, calling the betrayal shocking. A Lagos State High Court convicted him in July 2022 for sexual assault and indecent treatment of a child. He served his sentence and was released, with his name added to the sex offenders’ register.
