The Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu-Ode has officially rejected KWAM 1’s lineage claim. The musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, submitted a linkage form for the Awujale selection process.
In a letter dated December 11, 2025, the ruling house stated the form is “null, void, and of no consequence.” Their investigation found no evidence linking Ayinde to the Jadiara Royal House or the broader Fusengbuwa lineage.
Otunba Lateef Owoyemi, Chairman of Fusengbuwa Ruling House, questioned the form’s certification. The endorsement came from Adetayo Abayomi Oduneye, whom the ruling house does not recognize as a family head. They also noted the form was pre-signed on December 8, two days before Ayinde signed it.
The statement emphasized that Oduneye lacked authority to validate any lineage documents. It stressed that Ayinde’s claim to Fusengbuwa membership is formally rejected.This decision follows Oba Sikiru Adetona’s passing in July, which intensified interest in selecting a new Awujale. KWAM 1 submitted his form after receiving a five-day deadline extension.
The musician’s claim contradicted previous denials from the Jadiara and Bubiade family heads. They confirmed neither he nor his father belongs to their lineage. Fusengbuwa Ruling House convened an emergency meeting to address the controversy.
The ruling house insists that Ayinde has no entitlement to participate in the Awujale contest, maintaining transparency and respect for traditional protocols.
