The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed 32-year-old Jackie Wayas as its new Deputy National Publicity Secretary, marking a strategic move toward youth and female inclusion in Nigerian politics.
Wayas, a seasoned political strategist and advocate for inclusive democracy, will manage the party’s media engagement and help shape public perception ahead of the 2027 presidential elections. Her appointment signals the ADC’s shift from the dominance of older politicians to merit-based and diverse leadership.
Before joining the ADC, Wayas played a key role in the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential campaign, leveraging grassroots mobilisation and digital advocacy to engage millions of young Nigerians through the Obidient movement. Her experience in stakeholder engagement and political communication is expected to strengthen the ADC’s outreach.
Political observers see her appointment as a sign of generational change, while former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has praised the party for promoting youth leadership. For Wayas, the role is both a career milestone and a mission to amplify young voices in shaping Nigeria’s future.
