Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the state’s healthcare system, focusing on revitalizing primary healthcare centers. Speaking at a health conference in Abeokuta, he emphasized that well-equipped centers are essential for accessible and affordable healthcare.
His administration has invested significantly in upgrading these centers to enhance service delivery. Experts at the event, including Prof. Alphonsus Isara, stressed the need for trained medical officers in all local governments and stronger public health departments in hospitals.
Dr. Adewale Adesanya raised concerns about healthcare worker shortages due to the “japa syndrome” and called for better recruitment and retention strategies. Governor Abiodun’s approach, combining infrastructure investment and policy reforms, aims to build a more resilient healthcare system in Ogun State.
