The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has accused Governor Alex Otti of sidelining transparency and good governance, claiming he is running the state as a “one-man show.”
Speaking during the inauguration of Renewed Hope Partners, a grassroots support group for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election, Abia APC Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, criticized the Otti administration for allegedly prioritizing propaganda over accountability.
Allegations Against Governor Otti
Dr. Ononogbu claimed that Governor Otti has turned the newly built government house into a personal luxury facility while continuing to operate state affairs from his private residence. He accused the governor of centralizing power, describing a system where the “chief executive, chief accountant, and auditor” roles are all performed by one person, the governor himself.
“Abia State today is nothing but a one-man show backed by a well-oiled propaganda machine,” said Ononogbu. “Accountability is gone, checks and balances are missing, and conflict of interest has become the norm.”
He also criticized the contract award processes in the state, alleging that they lack proper scrutiny and transparency.
APC Mobilizes for 2027
Dr. Ononogbu urged party members to counter “sugar-coated lies” with grassroots mobilization and to rejoin the APC as part of ongoing reconciliation led by President Tinubu.
“A better and truly new Abia is possible under the right leadership,” he said.
The Abia APC says it is committed to restoring good governance and ensuring electoral victory in the 2027 general elections.
