Former Chelsea and Brazil midfielder Oscar has been discharged from the hospital after experiencing a heart-related issue during pre-season testing with São Paulo.
The 34-year-old fell ill on Tuesday while undergoing routine physical assessments at the club’s training centre, leading to immediate medical attention.
São Paulo confirmed on Monday that Oscar left Einstein Hospital Israelita on Sunday and remained “stable and clinically well” throughout his admission.
Doctors revealed that Oscar suffered an episode of vasovagal syncope, a common fainting condition triggered by a sudden drop in blood pressure and heart rate.
The club added that he will follow a short medical rest programme before returning to full activity.
Oscar, who started his career at São Paulo, rejoined the Brazilian club last year on a three-year contract running until 2027 after spending eight years in China.
