The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted 396,000 tramadol capsules at Aliyu Mustapha International Airport, Yola on Friday.
This comes less than a week after 171,000 tramadol capsules were recovered in Niger, Benue, and Taraba states.
Suspects Arrested in Yola
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi confirmed the arrest of 50-year-old Ahmed Isyaku Nda in connection with the seizure.
Authorities also recovered 785 kg of skunk cannabis from a warehouse in Asob Maraba Karu, Nasarawa State.
Lagos Drug Baron Arrested
A wanted drug baron posing as a businessman was arrested in Lagos.
The 42-year-old Ibemesi, MD of Franc CJ Ibemesi Nig. Ltd, was caught at Daisy Garden Hotel, Isolo.
Police seized 42 jumbo bags and four cartons of Loud cannabis, totaling 1,762.8 kg, along with $11,600, 2,000 GBP, 2,200 EUR, and 50 CAD in cash.
Syndicate Foiled in Osun State
The NDLEA stopped a syndicate attempting to distribute 11,135 kg of processed skunk in Orita-Apeje, Ife South LGA, Osun State.
Two trucks, a Volvo (WWR 29 XA) and a Mercedes (AWK 713 YZ), were seized.
Seven suspects, including Lucky Abiodun, Julius Amos, and Victor Ngbikili, were arrested.
NDLEA Commends Officers
NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd.) praised the officers.
He urged personnel to continue the agency’s balanced drug control strategy.
International Collaboration
Recently, the NDLEA recovered a shipment worth over N338 billion at Tin Can Island Port, Lagos.
The agency is working with the US DEA and the UK National Crime Agency to identify the culprits.
