The Anambra State Government will build 30 new public primary schools across local communities. The move targets areas without public primary or secondary schools.
The decision came after Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s landslide victory in the November 8, 2025, governorship election, where he won in all 21 local government areas with 73 percent of the votes.
Soludo’s Win Sparks Fresh Development Push
The Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, announced the decision in a statement on Thursday. He said the plan was approved during the 22nd State Executive Council meeting at the Light House, Awka.
Mefor said the Council reviewed the election outcome and noted that Soludo’s victory reflected his administration’s strong performance.
“The election proved that good governance drives electoral success,” he stated. “Governor Soludo’s 73 percent win shows that delivering value earns public trust.”
Government Expands Free Education Initiative
The Council approved the construction of 30 additional primary schools to expand access to quality education. Mefor said the project supports Soludo’s “Solution Government” agenda and ensures every community benefits from the state’s free education policy.
“The new schools will strengthen our education programme and close learning gaps across communities,” he added.
Anambra Approves 2026–2028 Expenditure Plan
The Council also adopted the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF). This sets the foundation for the 2026 State Budget, which the government aims to present to the House of Assembly and sign into law by December 31, 2026.
Mefor said the Council pledged to finish strong and thanked Ndi Anambra for their support and peaceful conduct during the election.
₦43.7 Billion Infrastructure Projects Ongoing
He recalled that on September 16, 2025, the state approved contracts worth ₦43.7 billion for roads, power, schools, and other infrastructure projects.
Those approvals came during the 19th Executive Council meeting. Mefor stressed that no new project would be awarded for political reasons.
“We will only fund projects with clear economic and social value,” he said. “Our focus remains on results, not elections.”
Soludo’s Vision: One Anambra, One Future
Governor Soludo continues to focus on education, infrastructure, and economic growth under his “One Anambra, One Future” vision.
The new schools are expected to improve access to education in rural areas and strengthen human capital development across the state.
With these projects, Anambra aims to remain a model of progressive governance in Nigeria’s Southeast region.
