Despite receiving petrol at N820 per litre with no logistics costs, major partners of the Dangote Refinery have yet to reduce pump prices.
Checks on Sunday showed that Heyden, AP, MRS, and others still sell petrol at N865 per litre, with only a few MRS stations in Lagos adjusting to N841. Some outlets outside the state, such as MRS Olowotedo in Ogun, even sell for N875.
Dangote had projected lower pump prices nationwide after deploying over 1,000 CNG trucks to cut logistics costs, expecting petrol to sell at N841–N851 depending on location. Nearly three weeks later, however, most stations have not complied.
A refinery source said many marketers had received new supplies and had “no justification” for keeping old prices, but noted that Dangote could not compel them to adjust rates.
Meanwhile, DAPPMAN criticised Dangote’s frequent price reviews, warning that sudden cuts destabilise the market.
For over a year, the refinery has set the tone for pump prices, with NNPC confirming it still sells at N865 per litre in Lagos.
