The Kaduna State Government has started paying the new ₦72,000 minimum wage to workers on Grade Levels 1–6.
Confirming the development, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Kaduna welcomed the move but urged the government to extend the payment to all categories of workers, including teachers, health workers, and staff of tertiary institutions.
State NLC Chairman, Ayuba Magaji Suleiman, said the government tied the extension to an ongoing staff and pension verification exercise, expected to end by September 2025.
He added that while new salary tables for health workers under CONMESS and CONHESS are being prepared, many categories such as local government employees, primary school teachers, and primary healthcare workers are yet to benefit.
Suleiman stressed that the NLC will continue to press for full coverage until every worker in the state receives the ₦72,000 minimum wage.
