Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has restated his administration’s strong determination to eliminate banditry and restore lasting peace across the state. The governor made this assurance on Wednesday while declaring open the 9th regular meeting of the State Executive Council at the Government House, Sokoto.
According to him, the state government has been providing security agencies with essential support and logistics to strengthen their operations in bandit-prone local government areas. Aliyu further revealed that new strategies have been introduced to complement ongoing efforts in tackling insecurity. “By Allah’s will, these measures will help us put an end to banditry in Sokoto State,” he affirmed.
The governor described insecurity as a serious challenge that has slowed down socio-economic growth in several communities. However, he reassured residents of his administration’s unwavering resolve to confront criminality head-on. Aliyu also called on citizens to remain supportive and cooperative in the collective effort to achieve peace and security.
Beyond security, the governor turned attention to governance and accountability. He directed commissioners to regularly inspect all contracts executed under their ministries. This, he explained, will ensure strict compliance with project standards while discouraging substandard delivery and unnecessary delays. “We will not tolerate poorly executed projects. The people of Sokoto deserve quality work that meets the highest standards,” he emphasized.
Ahmed Aliyu reminded the council that the people’s overwhelming support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) came with high expectations for development. He assured that his government remains committed to providing sustainable infrastructure, social amenities, and meaningful projects that reflect the people’s mandate.
The governor expressed gratitude to Sokoto residents for their continued prayers and support, promising to sustain the delivery of democracy dividends to every part of the state.
